My laptop is giving me problems. Occasionally it just decides to shut off. Usually this happens while I'm using a program that demanding, liike photoshop, or solidworks. It always happens when I run world of warcraft. I think I just need a better video card, but I'm not sure

Hey bob
Now, when you mean shutting off, do you just mean the screen or the entire computer?
Do you know what kind of laptop you have? How much memory etc?

I have an avaratec laptop (i know, my first mistake) its a 3.2 GHz P4 with 512 ram and 128 video. Yeah, it completely powers off. I have it on a cooling stand, so it shouldn't be a heat issue.

Well the game could cause it to act up... what specs does the game say it needs?
My suggestion would be to upgrade your ram if possible... and if you can change the video card i would do that also... if not... do you have a desktop you can use for your games?

I am well within the system requirements for the game, but I will upgrade and see if that helps. My desktop is getting a little old, I think I have bought 2 laptops since my desktop. I'm always on the go, so the laptop suits me better.
Thanks for your help!
