Please explain why if we went for the oil we are paying $2.50+ for fuel? If we went for the oil, we should have no problems with having enough. I realize that you have an opinion and you have the right to express it (God Bless the American Soldier who gave you that right) but you really should get an education before expressing your opinion. Bush has not been great in a lot of areas, i.e. closing the borders, controlling government waste, spending, but he has been GREAT when it comes to not having people blowing you up at your local grocery store. Please vote Democrat, how much more can you afford to come out of your wallet? ?? We already give about 48% of our money to the government. Don't believe me?? Add it up. Randy

Actually 48% is a conservative estimate in most states. Up here in Washington, with a 7.7% sales tax added on to every penny spent, it goes up even more.

This is what I know of the President's since Clinton got in.
When Clinton was elected to office, we had a $250 billion dollar deficit. He told us he's raising taxes and he did. People bitched and whined for a year or two, then all of a sudden, jobs were being created, the country had money. When Clinton ended his 8 year reign, we had a $250 billion dollar surplus. That's $500 billion dollars worth of turn around.
Bush gets in office, within two years we sat at a $450 billion dollar deficit. Nearly twice the deficit we started with when Clinton got in. I know everyone seems to love tax cuts, but we just can't keep going up and down from deficit to surplus. If we do, eventually even the rich will be considered middle class and the middle class will be out in the streets.
I don't know that I'll vote for anyone who claims they want to cut taxes again. I think I've learned my lesson. Nothing against Republicans or Democrats, it's just too much to watch our country flip flop and then try to buy a loaf of bread for $2.00 or a gallon of milk for $4.00.
In respects to Bush, since this thread is about him, I just don't believe he knows how to spend money or make it. We're in a financial toilet and it seems like there's an ass on the pot that just won't get up and let us crawl out.
Then to top it off, while gas prices hit that $4.00 mark in some places, prices for everything else went up, minimum wage stayed the same. It hasn't risen since 1996 or so. Then people wonder why we have so many poor and destitute. When your rent goes from $250 to $550, so your landlord can make his ends meet and you were struggling before and with no raise in site, your car becomes a living place. It's sad, but true.

also cottam10 i did do my reaserch the reason it is so high is so that the oil indurstry makes money. what sadom was doing was storing the oil so that he had a surplus of it which in turn turned down the coast of it. but seeing as sadom was taken out the owners in the middle east jacked up the prices. it is only high now so bush can make money off of it along with his family
